Color-blocking 101

After browsing through fashion magazines and catalogues, it is apparent that color blocking has become a staple in any woman’s 2011-2012 wardrobe. And no article of clothing or accessory has gone under the radar. From dresses, to skirts, to shoes, to bags, to sunglasses, an addition of vibrant color heats up what can be a dark, drab winter wardrobe. Spring comes early with these bold colors.

A unique quality of this trend is that it can be utilized by woman of any age and can be catered towards your personal taste. Wear the colors that complement and accentuate your own personal style. According to Glamour Magazine, color blocking is the most wearable fashion trend for the spring – a demure option that offers personality and flavor. At SweetU, our personal style currently focuses on vibrant orange and blue.

Aside from collegiate inspiration, SweetU “Graduation” pump and “Party Flat” offer the appeal of the color blocking trend as well as the timeless style of a classic pump or flat. SweetU strives to be in congruence with timeless and current style. How would style your SweetU heels or flats?

As a newly developed business from Charlottesville, VA, the logical choice is to design our first shoes in orange and blue to capture the Cavalier spirit. Allegiances lie with other colleges or universities? What other colors would you like to see? We are open to suggestions and would love to hear your feedback!

We still see basic color blocking methods that really show off either the shoes or the outfit.  I like the look and don’t think it’ll ever go away.
